Feeling: Need a break
Listening to: Do You & So You by Kuchibashi-P

It feels like time to write another blog post.

It's been a while since I had some art to show unfortunately. I've been sick twice in the past month (and as I'm writing this I think feel a cold coming on...) and at this time of year things are really hectic at my job and I'm very drained. I have actually been drawing though, a friend of mine commissioned me to draw some emotes and artwork for their Twitch channel, and I just usually don't upload emote work I do because I can't think of a good way to present it that I like.

Hopefully I'll be back to my usual, somewhat slow, speed of art to upload next month. I've been thinking about formally reopening public commissions as well too, because I'm going on a trip next year and making some extra pocket money to make up for the expense would be nice, but I'm not on any social media nowadays so I don't know how well that would go without that advertising boost. If you're reading this then watch this space!

Beyond that, I continue to tinker with this website and having fun with it. There's been a real enthusiasm for 88x31 website buttons going around recently, and I made one for this site! I also made a Links page where I've put some buttons and links to share.

I've been really getting back into playing video games this year, and recently I've gotten a lot of joy out of replaying childhood favorites. I've been sloooowly going through the original four .hack games, putting a break between each game to avoid burning out on the virus core grind lol. They really are one-of-a-kind though, I finished Mutation the other month and its ending sequence is just jawdropping. Such special games, and the clunkiness of the game design really adds to the experience honestly. During my most recent longer sickness last month, I also decided on a whim to replay Tales of Symphonia for comfort food, and that game has aged far better than I expected? It's a really fast-paced game, dungeons are bite-sized, and I knocked it out in a mere 25 hours. Story's as silly as it always has been but that dub cast really is excellent. Maybe a perfect video game. I recently acquired 8bitdo's new Xbox Lite SE controller, and I have an extremely rocky track record with 8bitdo and their devices, but so far this controller is really allowing me to play video games more often with my hand issues. Just hoping it holds up better than their previous revision of this controller.

Media I've enjoyed lately
I lost my mind over the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I don't even really know what to say I just loved my time with all three books, excellent creatures, really fun concepts explored. Instant favorite new thing status!!!

I played Sephonie recently and really really loved it. Wonderful retro-3D visuals and atmosphere, fun and relaxing platforming with some movement control options that made it easier for me to play with my hand issues, really resonant melancholic writing. I played Anodyne years back and liked it but never kept up with this development team and I'm realizing that was a mistake. Gonna go back and play Anodyne 2 soon.

Until next time!
